We lost the blog.
When Lapster and I returned from a great trip back East the blog was fine. Both of us put in our final gratitude for the year, and then the next day when we looked at the blog all of the entries were gone – well, everything after July.
For almost a year we’ve been writing on BSuit filling it with random posts about whatever strikes our fancy. For the most part, it has been busy work – just a little project that we do together since we both like technology. Now though, our words were gone. I never claimed I was a blogger or anything. In fact, I didn’t even think I cared that much about my blog. It was just fun. It didn’t really matter to me.
Or so I thought. As the big haired band Cinderella said in the 80s – You don’t know what you’ve got (till it’s gone) – check out the video to really drive the point home.
. . . those words are so true. When I finally thought BSuit was gone I was really disappointed. All of a sudden, something I thought was just a way to waste time actually turned out to be a great project. I have really enjoyed writing on this blog. No matter how random the posts, and how small the reading audience.
So, as we stand in front of a new year, I have decided I will write more about my life. Not just gadget reviews and political rants, but also ask the real questions I’m dealing with in my life. I’ve been so apprehensive to put any of my personal ideas into cyberspace. I guess I am/was embarrassed, or wanted to put forth a perfect idea of myself. But my friend lifeasiknowit28 has a brilliant blog discussing her experiences in New York and as a new teacher. I love reading about her experiences since I live across the country. My cousin has been writing about her pregnancy and the birth of her first baby at heathernmarc.com. It has been a precious gift to share this life changing experience with her.
So I will be brave. I will write more of my feelings into the blog in this New Year. Make a new start.
Anyway, enough about me – here is how the story of the lost blog ended. Lapster tumbled and fumbled through servers from Las Vegas to Honolulu.
We both braced ourselves. Now accidents happen. I get it, and this mistake was not ours, but there was a good chance that almost half of the words we’ve written over the past year were gone. Not to mention the countless hours that Lapster has put into creating our template including changing colors at my whim, creating a blog inside a blog, and a tons of little changes (I am a high maintenance client – I’m just lucky he loves me).
The moral of the story is: Lapster, after days of wrestling with our server company, got everything restored – he’s my hero. And we are back in bathing suit business.
Hope all of our readers had a wonderful holiday seasons. Congrats on making it through another year to all of us.
