Stuck in Houston

February 26th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Seattle had snow at 3am! We drove slowly through terrible road conditions and made it to the airport on time (with my brother Dave’s help!).
Then we spent 2 hours on the tarmac while the de-icing crew got their shit together and misted our plane.
Now we’re trying to get a stand by flight to get to [...]

Bon Voyage!

February 25th, 2009 · 2 Comments

lessons from my mother

February 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

My mom is awesome.  She is one of the wisest and most grounded people I know.  You can’t shake her.  Whatever problem my sister and I face my mother always responds with calm problem solving.  She doesn’t fall into the chaos.  I call her on the phone,  feeling like things are falling apart, and before [...]

Next week, Ken and I fly out to Miami to head out on the Cayamo Cruise.  A week of music and cruising through the Virgin Islands.  Below is our map of our itinerary.  I’ve started making plans for excursions, looking for a place to get a spray tan, and buying a bikini.  Sunshine here we [...]

A Work In Progress and The Search for Progressive Work

February 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Ken has been helping me build a new site to showcase my consulting work.  My first draft is up, and I’ll be making edits for the next few weeks, but for now check out www.laurawilliams.org.  I love the fancy headers that Ken built for me from his photography.  So pretty.
The other thing I learned is [...]

Sweet Valentine’s Day Goodies

February 14th, 2009 · No Comments

Oh yeah, my baby loves me.
Ken and I have had two days of Valentine celebrations.  It started yesterday with a nice lunch at Farestart, a community group that owns a great restaurant in downtown Seattle.  Then to Banya 5, a spa/turkish bath.  We had full body salt scrubs, massages, and lounged in hot tubs all [...]

What’s Bugging You?

February 12th, 2009 · 1 Comment

So it isn’t a big secret to family and friends that I have dealt with some depression in my past.  It is a touchy condition that has entered my life once or twice.  As any type A, slightly woo-woo girl would do, I’ve gone to a variety of wise oracles for advice including family, friends, [...]

Newman Williams, 1918 – 2009

I’m coming out of several months of a quiet blog with sad news.  My grandfather passed last week.  This follows losing my grandmother last year.
My grandparents lived around the corner from us as I grew up.  Most of my summer days were spent in their pool where I learned my love of water.  They were [...]
